The Southern African Faith Communities’ Environment Institute (SAFCEI) will launch an open letter to the Bill Gates Foundation, on Wednesday evening, the 29th October 2025.

The letter is calling for reparations to the damage caused by industrial agriculture models, promoted and funded by the foundation, across Africa. 

The letter is endorsed by more than 600 African faith leaders.

Speakers at the “Advancing Gender Equity in Climate Leadership & The Gates Letter Launch” are  Mmapaseka Steve Letsike – Deputy Minister in the Presidency for Women, Youth and Persons with Disabilities; Siphiwe Sithole – Founder, Africa Marmalade; Ulfat Masibo – Executive Director, Africa Muslim Women Action Network (Kenya) and Professor Mamadou Goïta – Executive Director, IRPAD/Afrique (Mali).
