Jacob Mamabolo, MMC for Public Works, Roads and Transport in Gauteng, visited the topical sinkhole in Centurion, on Friday.
The sinkhole is in the Lyttleton Centurion intersection on Burger Avenue & Langebrink Road, and has residents wanting the area declared a disaster.
Mamabola was joined by Tshepo Motlhale, the Head of Gauteng’s Provincial Disaster Management Centre.
The sinkhole is believed to be one of at least +50, of serious concern.
Last year, South African National Roads Agency SOC Limited (SANRAL) began construction to repair the sinkhole on the N1 near the Flying Saucer Interchange in Centurion, another eyesore.
SANRAL’s Reginald Demana, said at the time, the N1 sinkhole project, and another on the R21 cost around R424 million to repair. About R280 million was spent on the N1 and R144 million on the R21.
