Transnet and one of the South African Transport and Allied Workers’ Union (SATAWU),reached a three-year wage agreement on Wednesday, this week.
In terms of the wage agreement, effective from the 1 April 2025, Transnet tabled an offer as follows:
Year 1: 6%
Year 2: 6%
Year 3: 5,5%
Transnet said in a statement, the offer includes increases to basic salary and related components (13th cheque and pension fund contribution), medical aid subsidy and housing allowance.
Transnet also said it considers the offer to be reasonable and fair.
Another union, the United National Transport Union (UNTU)has rejected the offer and indicated it will not take it to its members.
