It’s rained heavily in parts of Gauteng, with some residents of Glenvista, South of Johannesburg and Pretoria, sharing pictures of hailstones, on Saturday.
As a result, motorists are advised to avoid New Redruth and Alberton Road.
The Weather Service (SAWS) has warned against relatively severe thunderstorms (at level 5) producing heavy downpours, hail and excessive lightning over south-eastern parts of both the Eastern Cape and KwaZulu-Natal, on Sunday.
Similar weather conditions are expected, at level 2, over the Free State, northern and eastern parts of the Eastern Cape (except for the south-eastern parts), as well as along the escarpment of Mpumalanga.
Extremely high fire danger conditions are expected over the Swartland Local Municipality in the Western Cape, as well as in places over the North West and Free State.
There are already several fires in the Cape Winelands District Municipality.
The Municipality said its Fire Services, fought fires in Witzenberg and Langeberg, the whole day on Saturday, with partners -CapeNature and the Winelands Fire Protection Association (FPA).
The fire in Visgat (Witzenberg Valley) remains out of control, but it is burning in inaccessible areas that lead into rocky terrain.
