About 30 water birds have died at Florida Lake, in Roodepoort.
Initial results of samples taken by the Community Led Animal Welfare (CLAW), have not confirmed suspicions of a possibility of avian flu in the area.
Jenny Dallas, Manager of the Association managing Florida Lake, said birds were taken in for autopsies, for further tests.
Quinton Scott, from the RAC, confirmed the types of birds dying are common, including Egyptian Geese and Ducks.
Residents in Northcliff and Fourways, have reported dead birds on their properties, via social media.
Ghaalieb Jappie, said he found 3 dead birds in mid September.
Another resident of Northcliff, said he found 2, in his garden, in just 2 weeks.
