Conservationists say culling Warthogs, keep population numbers balanced. This is in favour of the ecosystem.
In parts of Limpopo, Warthogs are culled because they destroy crops. The Warthog hunt Lodge is used to hunt and kills these animals between May and August.
Research undertaken by Monlee Swanepoel, Alison Leslie, Marieta van der Rijst and Louwrens Hoffman in 2016, found warthogs are generally considered an agricultural pest and a threat to the natural environment.
The study also concluded that warthog meat should be produced and marketed as whole muscle cuts and not as the typical commercial cuts.
These animals are important to the ecosystem because they dig up the soil which stimulates plant growth.
They are found in South Africa, West Africa, Kenya, and Zimbabwe.
Just like pigs, they are not fussy about their homes, and they enjoy rolling in the mud.
They are home to wooded savanna, grasslands, semi desert areas and forests.
They are not listed as endangered in the IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature) red data list.
