The City of Cape Town’s maintenance of water- related infrastructure continues.
The next area scheduled for maintenance, is Brackenfell Industria and Everite Industrial, on Sunday, the 11th.
These areas will have water supply shut off from 08:00 until 20:00.
The work includes the replacement of four control valves and a failing T-piece on the main water supply pipeline to these areas.
On Monday, the 12th August 2024, until Friday, 8 November 2024, work will begin on the servitude between Numbers 22 and 24 De Wet Road.
In a statement, the City said “work involves the relaying of the water main and may result in an unavoidable temporary inconvenience including to the local traffic in the area. Shut-off of water in the area is only planned for close to the end of the project and you will be notified accordingly closer to the time.”
Wemmershoek Water Treatment Plant temporary shutdown will occur on Tuesday, the 13th August 2024 from 00:00 until 20:00 and again on Wednesday, 14 August 2024.
“This will enable the team to do maintenance on some of the sand filters in the Plant. The reservoirs supplying the northern parts of the city will be filled in advance. Residents in these areas need to please reduce their water consumption during this period. The Drakenstein and Stellenbosch municipalities as well as private consumers along the Wemmershoek pipeline have been informed to make alternate arrangements.”
Similarly, work to replace valves and fire hydrants begins on Tuesday morning, the 13th August 2024, from 8am until 5pm, in Diep River, Elfindale, Heathfield, Southfield, Parkwood, Meadowridge, Plumstead and Constantia.
