The N2 near Ziphunzana was reopened on Monday mid morning, following a community protest, earlier.
Law enforcement agencies, including the South African Police Service (SAPS) and Public Order Policing (POPS), cleared the road and restored traffic flow.
The OR Tambo Municipality said motorists can now proceed with caution, as minor delays may still be experienced while traffic normalises.
