Namakwa District
The Namakwa District Municipality, in the Northern Cape, warned road users to note the flood damage in the Kuboes to Baken Road (DR3247), Granaatboskolk Road (DR2972) as well as the Eksteenfontein to Grasvlakte/Port Nolloth Road (DR2962).
Other roads eroded by rains are the MR568, between Williston and Sutherland.
The Municipality also said entrance roads to Nouriver, were either damaged or eroded.
Free State
Free State Department of Health also warned road users against a road closure on the N1 between Springfontein and Gariep Dam.
The road was temporarily closed on Wednesday, due to a fuel tanker fire, posing risk to motorists and causing significant road damage.
Emergency services were on-site to manage the situation, but motorists were diverted to Springfontein.
Cape Town and the Winelands
The Voortrekker Road Corridor CID, a non-profit organisation, reported the closure of Carl Cronje Drive in both directions by City of Cape Town Traffic Services due to flooding.
The VRCID team worked alongside City officials to assist with clean-up efforts and helped restore access to the road.
The City of Cape Town’s Urban Waste Management Directorate advised residents to expect delays in refuse collection service, due to flooding and heavy rainfall.
The Stellenbosch Municipality said on Wednesday, it was responding to multiple stormwater-related incidents across the municipal area.
Road closures and diversions included the R304/Bird Street Intersection, closed due to shoulder embankment washaway at Kayamandi traffic lights.
The R44/Tennantville Intersection, Bird Street at Bell Street, Ring Road and Nkanini (near the Industrial Area).
Bergrivier Municipality also were in Porterville, cleaning and assessing the extent of damage after the floods, on Wednesday, the 09th April 2025, after Tuesday’s rains.
The extent of damage is still unknown, following traffic disruptions, road closures, and damage to both private property and public infrastructure.
