Wild Voices South Africa is a new non-profit wildlife haven, situated outside East London.

The Centre rescues sick or injured animals, rehabilitates and releases them back into their natural habitat.

Founded by Ilona Coetzee and Jamie Lee Steenkamp, Wild Voices SA, goes beyond wildlife care, to include conservation education and awareness.

Ilona Coetzee says “since the launch of Wild Voices, we have rescued 28 animals.
About 13 of these, are currently in rehabilitation, to be released back into the wild in 2025.”

Through strong partnerships with local veterinary practices and professionals, the organization, wants to set a high standard for animal welfare and wildlife education in the greater East London and surrounding areas.

Coetzee says one of the most memorable rescues was of two Black-backed Jackals (a male and a female) in 2024.

“We also work in collaboration with other wildlife rehabilitation centers in South Africa, such as Freeme Wildlife in Howick and Moholoholo Animal Rehabilitation Centre. It was at Freeme Wildlife that Jamie Lee Steenkamp co-owner of WildVoices) and I met, where we gained hands-on experience with wildlife, protocols, and procedures.”
