The City of Tshwane has closed 5 businesses, as part of of its crack down on hijacked buildings.

The City’s drive in Danville, on Tuesday, resulted in a closure of an Early Childhood Centre, that has operated in the area for 22 years, without a lease.

One of the businesses closed, is a butchery, selling expired meat and a gambling business.

Nasiphi Moya, Executive Mayor of Tshwane, said in a statement, in total 8 businesses were inspected, 2 notices issued for the contravention of the Business Act, 4 notices issued for the contravention of foodstuffs, cosmetics and disinfectant act.

About 3 premises were found with illegal connection to electricity, 1 to illegal water and 3 vehicles impounded.

“We will continue to reclaim hijacked City properties.”
