City Power’s approved electricity tariff kicks in on the 01st July 2025.

The National Energy Regulator of South Africa (NERSA) approved an increase of 12,41% for the current financial year 2025/2026.

City Power’s Isaac Mangena, said customers will be charged on the inclining block tariff, where the first 350 Kilowatt an hour (KW/h), will now cost R874.51, R98,84 more.

The next 24 KW/h, will cost R73,35.

Mangena also said indigent customers, will receive Free Basic Electricity of 50KW/h per month. Registration of 130,000 indigent households, is well underway, having started on the 17th June 2025, and expected to run through until the 31st July 2025.

To qualify for FBE, residents must earn R7,503.01 per month.

Residents on the Prepaid High tariff, will see an 11,66%, due to increases in energy charges.
