A joint agreement to design a Climate Facility for Children (CF4C) in the Southern African region, was signed by the Development Bank of Southern Africa and UNICEF, last week.
The DBSA, an accredited entity of the Green Climate Fund (GCF) and UNICEF, a key delivery partner in Africa, aim to deepen their collaboration and secure new funding opportunities from the GCF.
Dr. Muhammed Sayed, Climate Change Specialist, said about this agreement, “securing climate funds is challenging, but this partnership with UNICEF will create a more accessible pipeline for the bank in low emission and climate resilient social infrastructure and services in our region.”
This extension of the partnership framework will support the DBSA’s project preparation and financing efforts, bolstering its climate finance initiatives and expanding its funding pipeline.
