The Development Bank of Southern Africa (DBSA) will host a panel discussion titled “Climate Information and Early Warning Systems (CIEWS) to Inform Climate Resilient Infrastructure Investments in Southern Africa” at COP29, this morning, Tuesday, the 19 November from 09h30 to 11h00 SAST at the SA Pavilion.
Dr. Muhammed Sayed, Climate & Environment Specialist at the DBSA, will join panellists to explore solutions for closing the water investment gap and strengthening early warning systems to reduce climate risks in Southern Africa.
As climate hazards increasingly threaten Africa’s vital sectors (water, agriculture, and infrastructure), the DBSA is leading initiatives to build resilience across the continent.
Through Climate-Informed Early Warning Systems (CIEWS), the DBSA is hoping to equip communities with essential climate data to make informed decisions, safeguard livelihoods, and adapt to future challenges.
