The construction of the Khauta A&B (South & West Plant) Solar PV project, is expected to kickstart.
The project is located in Riebeeckstad, in the Free State.
Although planned since 2022, Hlobohang Mokhomo, Acting Executive Mayor, met with service providers this week.
He met with the NOA Group to discuss the development of a 500MW Solar PV Facility in Matjhabeng Local Municipality.
The NOA Group presented their plans.
The electricity generated by the facility will be supplied through the Leander Substation to the grid.
Construction of the facility will be led by WBHO, with a development timeline of 22 months, followed by 3–4 months of commissioning and grid testing.
WBHO will also collaborate with Zwanda to conduct community assessments and develop procurement strategies to maximize local economic impact.
This project represents a significant investment in the Free State Province, promising job creation, infrastructure development, and enhanced energy security.
NOA Trading raised R3,2 billion in equity capital from Old Mutual’s African Infrastructure Investment Managers, enabling the company to expedite the purchase of electrons from independent power producers (IPPs) and fast-track the construction of its fleet of generation facilities.
