This is as a result of the awarding of 5 projects of Round 1 of the Battery Energy Storage Independent Power Producer Procurement Programme (BESIPPPP 1) in November 2023.
The Oasis Consortium was awarded 3 of the 5 projects.
The project is led by EDF Group, in partnership with Mulilo, Pele Green Energy and Gibb Crede.
The three projects amount to 257 Megawatts and storage capacity of 1028MW/h.
The Consortium has raised R7 billion loaned by Standard Bank and Absa, over the project’s 15 year implementation agreement.
