Severe Tropical Cyclone Narelle battered the Exmouth and Onslow, off the Western Australian coastline, at category 4 on Friday morning.

Then the system headed to nearby Coral Bay at category 3.

It further weakened to category 2 on Friday evening, as it moved further south over land.

The Bureau of Meteorology confirmed its wind gusts went up to 200 km/h, and about 231 mm of rain fell in one day. 

There were gusts of up to 133 km/h at Carnarvon Airport and 122 km/h at Gascoyne Junction.

Some of the highest rainfall was recorded at Dalgety Downs (112mm), Winderie (108mm), Carey Downs (91mm), Jimba (83mm) and Lyons River (80mm).

There are still active warnings against flooding in Gascoyne, Lyons and Lyndon Minilya Rivers.

The Bureau also confirmed Narelle weakened overnight and is no longer a tropical cyclone.

It was downgraded to a low-pressure system around 6am, with gusts of around 90 km/h reported at Golden Grove and Mount Magnet.
