The Department of Water and Sanitation (DWS) has urged residents to use water wisely, as water levels dipped slightly in dams in Mpumalanga’s Lowveld region.

The Department said the latest weekly state of reservoirs report, show most dams
in the Lowveld and Ehlanzeni District have recorded no significant changes.

The only dam with a slight decrease is Primkop Dam, which dropped marginally from 101.1% to 100.9%.

Although only two dams recorded a slight increase, the rest remain constant. The Da Gama and Ohrigstad dams increased from 99.8% to 100.3% and 78.2% to 78.4% respectively.
The Blyderivierpoort is at 100.3%, Buffelskloof at 100.5%, Driekoppies at 95.1%, Longmere at 101.1%, Klipkopjes at 100.0%, Witklip at 100.3%, Kwena at 100.6%, and Inyaka at 99.6%.

Dam levels of the Province are at 100.2%, down from 100.4%.

Similarly, a decrease was recorded in the Water Management Areas (WMAs), with the Limpopo-Olifants WMA falling from 95.5% to 95.2% and the Inkomati-Usuthu WMA, dropping from 99.6% to 99.5%.

Dam levels at Ehlanzeni are collectively at 97.8%, while those at Gert Sibande and Nkangala districts recorded about 101.0%.
