The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has issued a level 2 Yellow warning against disruptive snow in the Eastern Cape. Areas expecting snowfall on Monday into Tuesday, are in the District Municipalities of Chris Hani, Joe Gqabi, Dr Beyer’s Naude, the Blue Crane Route, Matatiele, UMzimvubu and Raymond Mhlaba.
A Yellow level 1 warning for severe thunderstorms resulting in strong damaging winds and localised damage to property, is expected over extreme eastern parts of the Eastern Cape (OR Tambo, Alfred Nzo, Sengqu, Elundini, Sakhisizwe, Emalahleni, Intsika Yethu, eNgcobo and Mbashe).
A Yellow level 4 warning for severe thunderstorms, resulting in damage or loss of infrastructure, settlements and major travel disruptions and disruptions of municipal and other essential service over the southern and central parts of KwaZulu Natal.Widespread showers are also expected in the North and north eastern parts of KwaZulu-Natal on Monday. SAWS said this might lead to disruption of some services and damage to structures. A heatwave continues into Monday, extremely high fire danger conditions are expected over central and eastern parts of the Northern Cape, eastern parts of North West, the Free State, Gauteng, and in places of the Western Bushveld of Limpopo.
