Sky gazers are bracing themselves for a super moon, on Saturday the 03rd of January 2026, from 00:06
Meteorologists at the Severe Weather and Information Centre (Swaicsa) said to thousands of followers on social media, this celestial event, is characterised by a Full Moon appearing bigger and brighter than usual.
The earth looks like a circle in the sky, because it is engulfed by the Sun’s light.
According to the Centre for Astronomical Heritage, today’s supermoon is known as the Mantis Moon.
The mantis, a South African carnivorous insect, is relatively smaller, but is unmatched in stealth and hunting prowess.
