Amatola Water said it has skipped a hurdle in repairs of pump sets, but said supplying water to Ndlambe Municipality, remains a challenge.
The hiccups in supply date back as far as the 18 July 2025.
On Sunday Amatola took to social media to let residents know “it’s been a hectic week for Amatola Water operations team at Albany Coast Scheme, which supplies water to ward 3 and 4 of Ndlambe Municipality. We’re proud to report that we have made significant progress on our water scheme repairs that occurred in the recent past week!”
The team changed and replaced multiple pump sets and air valves and fixed Reverse Osmosis related issues, affecting certain units (RO)-units 3 and 12.
But the water board said while systems are back online and able to provide some water volume, systemic challenges lie ahead.
“We want to be transparent about the ongoing systemic challenges we face. We acknowledge that our ability to deliver water at full capacity in the Ndlambe area remains an ongoing issue, and we genuinely appreciate your understanding and patience as we work through these challenges.”
Last week, Amatola said there are multiple factors at play, including a persistent shortage of raw water supply, a pump station failure, and power supply interruption.
