The situation is worsening at the Senteeko dam, as the spillway channel slab is now hanging.
Councillor Philip Minnaar, said in a post to residents, although the dam’s outlet valve is fully opened, this is not making much of a difference, as the water level is not decreasing.
Minnaar received the alert from a local irrigation board because the dam is privately owned.
Plans are underway to commence with the creation of a side-channel spillway by opening a trench to relieve the main spillway.
