Motorists are urged to plan ahead, and use alternative roads to those affected by a dry run for the upcoming G20 Summit.
The operation continues into Saturday, the 25 October 2025, having begun the day before, on Friday, the 24th, with temporary road and lane closures, in three of Gauteng’s biggest cities-Johannesburg, Pretoria and Ekurhuleni.
The Road Traffic Management Corporation said high security routes, such as highways and arterials will be affected.
The morning exercise starts at 8am until 10am and the afternoon session, at 13:00 -14:30.
Major roads affected are the N1, N3, N12, M1, R21, R24 and the R512.
Arterials are the Rand Show Road, 5th Street, Maude and Daisy, Rivonia, Grayston, Melrose Boulevard, Corlett Drive, Athol Oaklands, Oxford, Glenhove, Jan Smuts Avenue, Nasrec and the Golden Highway.
Alternative routes are the M57, R21, Beyers Naude Drive, travelling through Germiston, Kempton Park and Bedfordview.
Use streets parallel to Jan Smuts, Oxford and Rivonia Road.
In the South, use Chris Hani Road, main Reef, the N17 and Crownwood Road.
