The World Meteorological Organization (WMO), has revamped official archives of weather and climate extremes, calling them the “Guinness Book of records” on temperatures, rainfall, wind, lightning, hail etc.
The WMO took to social media, confirming they have also established guidelines on the evaluation of new records, relevant to climate change.
“Our Weather and Climate Extremes archive helps advance climate science, supports disaster risk reduction and operational planning in climate-sensitive sectors.”
There is mounting interest for news and information about extreme weather, such as the hottest, the coldest and the windiest.
