SCP Security Private Search and Rescue teams, and emergency services, were called to a fallen tree at Beyers Naudé Drive and Judith Road in Johannesburg.
Although no casualties were reported, electricity cables were affected.
As a result, it is declared unsafe.
Motorists are advised to avoid the area, and use alternative routes.
The South African Weather Service (SAWS) issued a weather advisory against continued isolated showers and thundershowers in Gauteng, into Saturday.
Severe thunderstorms (at level 1) are expected over the central and south-eastern parts of the Northern Cape.
