Firefighters are battling against multiple flare-ups which occurred on day 7 of the Gansbaai fire, in the Overstrand Municipality.
As a result, Dean O’Neill, Municipal Manager, said the R43 between Gansbaai and Pearly Beach, is temporarily closed. Traffic will be diverted at the R43 Uilenkraalsmond/Bbos crossing.
O’Neill also said more road closures might follow on Friday, to protect both motorists and firefighters.
In addition, there is an active new fire reported along the R43 near Duineveld Pub, just outside of Gansbaai town.
