The City of Cape Town has embarked on an upgrade of the Potsdam Wastewater Treatment Works (WWTW) to the value of R5.2 billion.
According to a write-up on the DA’s Facebook page, the upgrade is to accommodate the City’s growing population.
The WWTW will be added by more than 50 million litres, from a capacity of 47 to 100 million litres of treated wastewater per day.
“Cape Town is significantly increasing infrastructure investment, with a 223% rise in its Water and Sanitation budget, reaching R7.8 billion in 2025/26. This investment includes major upgrades to wastewater treatment works, bulk sewer upgrades, and extensive pipe replacements.”
