An injection of about R215 million into the Tsomo Water Treatment Plant, in the Eastern Cape, has paid off. About 1692 jobs were created during the construction phase, according to the Chris Hani Municipality, where the system is located.
The system supplies approximately 25 mega litres of water per day. This is according to the Government Communications and Information System (GCIS).
According to the Municipality, more than 40, 000 households are set to benefit from the system.
Pictures of the water works were shared by GCIS during a Presidential Imbizo held in Tsomo, in the Eastern Cape, on Friday.
