Rand Water confirmed its cybersecurity was breached.
The water utility also did not give details of the damage, but affirmed water supply would not be affected.
“Our water treatment processes and quality control systems continue to operate normally” the utility said in a statement on Wednesday.
Regular water quality monitoring and rigorous testing continues.
Rand Water also promised to stick to its water delivery mandate to all customers.
