Images of livestock and wildlife either dead or stuck in mud are all over social media. This, as rain continues in already flood-stricken Queensland, in Australia.

About 1,700 homes in North Queensland are under threat and hundreds were evacuated to centres, as a result of Cyclone Alfred.

More than 100,000 heads of livestock are either dead or missing and thousands of kilometres of fences and roads were damaged in the Western Queensland floods.

Towns in South West Queensland are underwater, including Adavale, Quilpie, and Jundah.

Sustainable Population Australia, a non-profit organisation, said “with the advent of extreme heat and rain events, it is becoming increasingly more difficult and more unethical to farm in many areas. Australia needs to stabilise its population under 30 million in order to future proof itself for climate change. We will also be in a better position to support and work with the rest of the world, if we have a stable population.”
