During this launch, MEC Pieters officiated the sod-turning ceremony and the signing of the Memorandum of Agreement between AIDC-EC, a DEDEAT entity through ECDC, and Zero Carbon Charge.

Critics raised concern over the amount on social media, Justin Pillay, said just how many electric vehicles are expected to pass through the N6?
Others like Nomgqibelo Gumede, expressed relief that such a project would create an appetite for electric vehicles in the province.
