On Sunday, a resident from Gansbaai in the Western Cape took to social media, and wrote about the amount of rainfall received in the small town. “We have already had nearly 50mm rain for today in Gansbaai. Guess tomorrow (Monday)morning, we are looking at 100mm or more if it keeps raining like this overnight..”

Heavy rains received led to road closures in the Cape, with Premier Alan Winde, cautioning residents to exercise caution.
Major roads closed include Chapman’s Peak Drive, Victoria Road between Llandudno and Camps Bay.

Heavy rains in the  Nelson Mandela Metro (NMM), led to the evacuation of more than 100 residents from the Pollar Park informal settlement in Kuyga on Sunday, 24 September 2023.

The NMM also reported electrical faults in the City, which led to water interruptions in the following areas: Chelsea Zone, Lorraine, Kabega, Hunters Retreat, Westering, Malabar, Bridgemead,  Kragga Kamm and, Despatch Zone, Reservoir Hills, Khayamnandi, Rosedale Zone.
The Municipality also reported it was battling to access certain areas due to floods: Rosedale, Kamesh, Uitenhage Industrial and Uitenhage town.

In Tshwane, a fire broke out in the Cemetery View informal settlement, on Saturday evening. The City reported 200 people were displaced as a result. They were bussed to a temporary accommodation at Stanza Bopape Hall.

In Rustenburg, Private Disaster Management Services, reported a fire broke out earlier today, close to a resort. No injuries or fatalities were reported.

Weather South Africa has issued a level 9 warning for parts of the Eastern Cape, KwaZulu-Natal, Limpopo and Mpumalanga. South Western parts of the Eastern Cape are expected to receive heavy rains.
