A fire dubbed as the “Rowena fire” is about 5% contained, in the Mayer State Park, near Rowena, in the United States of America.

It emerged from a briefing by Lane Magill, the Wasco County Sheriff’s Office, held in The Dalles High School auditorium, that the fire has burnt 3,831 acres, destroying 49 structures.

More than 3000 people were given evacuation orders and more than 2,000 remain in a danger zone.

The US-30 Road is closed as a result of the fire.

A multi-agency resource centre (MARC) was established to focus on recovery and rebuilding efforts.
