A delegation from South Africa’s Automotive sector is at the 2026 Beijing International Automotive Exhibition and the 2026 Chery Global Partners Business Summit.

The Automotive Industry Development Centre (AIDC) said on social platforms, the visit aims to advance the growth and expansion of South Africa’s automotive sector through technology acquisition, strengthening collaboration, and identifying opportunities aligned to the country’s localisation strategy.

Andile Africa, CEO of the AIDC and, Asanda Mzinyati, the Head of Business Development for the centre, are at the event.

As the world’s largest vehicle production and sales market since 2009, China is a critical partner in shaping the future of the global automotive industry.

The programme includes knowledge exchange and engagement, as well as strategic partnership building platforms.

The local  National Association of Automotive Component and Allied Manufacturers (NAACAM), is also at the exhibition.

Beth Dealtry, Head of Policy and Regulation, and Nduduzo Chala, COO, are part of a broad-based South African delegation undertaking a working visit to China from 23 April to 1 May 2026.

The NAACAM said its participation is focused on proactively advocating for a deeper, more resilient local manufacturing value chain – ensuring that South Africa captures greater industrial value from both existing and new automotive OEM investments.

“This includes advancing localisation through increased local content in vehicle production, facilitating early integration of NAACAM members into OEM sourcing strategies and promoting supplier development pathways that enable Tier 2, Tier 3 and Tier 4 participation.”
