An earthquake with a magnitude of about 6,2 struck Northern Sumatra, in Indonesia, on Sunday afternoon.
The German Research Center for Geosciences (GFZ) who confirmed the epicentre of the quake, felt by over 45,000 people, said it was in fact about 89 km (55.3 miles) deep.
Indonesia’s authorities are monitoring the effects of the quake.
This is just one of a series of quakes that shook the world this week.
The Global Disaster Preparedness Centres said a series of earthquakes were reported across the United States, this includes a 4,1 in Kentucky on Sunday morning, Saturday’s 4.1-magnitude in Greenback, Tennessee, a 4.2 in Perryville, Alaska on Friday, and a 3.9 in Petrolia, California on Wednesday.
Others in the week, were in Alaska’s Aleutian region and Hope, a 3.0 in Virginia and a 6.0-magnitude quake along the southern East Pacific Rise.
