Minister of Water and Sanitation, Pemmy Majodina, joined the South African and Egyptian Women experts on Transboundary Water Resources Management webinar which coincided with the launch of 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence on Monday 25 November 2024.
Transboundary water management is a critical element in all forms of sustainable development.
Both South Africa and Egypt face pressing challenges related to transboundary water management, such as water scarcity, climate change and conflicting water demands.
The Department said I a statement, given these shared issues, there is a need for collaborative and innovative approaches, with women experts playing a key role in technical problem-solving, community engagement and policy advocacy.
The webinar explored the role of women experts in South Africa and Egypt in addressing transboundary water management challenges, emphasising their participation, leadership, and potential to drive sustainable solutions for livelihoods, while also fostering dialogue and collaboration on best practices and innovative solutions.
