The Ray Nkonyeni Municipality announced the decision to allow swimmers back to the uVongo Beach, subsequent to a decrease in the levels of Ecoli.

The Municipality said the latest water test results show a significant decrease in E-coli levels. It is not clear by how much.

As a result, the Uvongo Beach, on the South Coast, near Margate, is now safe for swimming and for any recreational activities.

The lagoon however, remains closed until it is also cleared.

Some residents were skeptical about the beach cleared, while the Lagoon was not.
Emily Crystal said “hey you guys like taking chances.”

Robert Hofmeyer said ” how can the sea be clear but the lagoon, which flows into it, not?”
