The Uthukela District Municipality informed residents of Ladysmith, on Sunday, that water shedding has begun.
This follows a significant drop in the levels of water at the main Spioenkop dam.
The Municipality said this is caused by electricity interruptions at the dam, due to strong winds.
Areas affected are Observation Hill, Golf Course
Mkhamba Gardens, Hyde Park, Steadville, Area J
Limit Hill, Modelkloof, Danskraal industrial area and Saint Chad’s.
“We will, therefore, be forced to carry out water shedding today and tomorrow from 19h00 to 6h00 to restore water levels at the plant and command reservoirs. We may ask for an extension if the situation does not improve.”
