A high-level Indaba to discuss recent outbreaks of Foot-and-Mouth Disease (FMD), will kick off on Monday, the 21–22 July 2025.
Joining discussions are the Agricultural Research Council (ARC), the country’s veterinary and agricultural experts and key industry stakeholders.
The meeting is expected to provide long-term, sustainable solutions to strengthen the country’s biosecurity systems.
The disease is threatening the country’s multibillion rand livestock sector. About 270 outbreak cases were reported in five provinces- with severe cases in KwaZulu-Natal and the Free State.
