A 7-day-old baby was among those rescued  by disaster response teams, near Three Rivers, on Wednesday, between Johnson Park and the Worcester Cemetery.

Rescue teams came from the Breede Valley Municipality (BVM) and the Cape Winelands District Municipality (CWDM) emergency teams.

Although the N1 – Worcester to De Doorns, is open, there are still several impassable roads, including the TR3101 – R60 Worcester to Robertson,  the TR902 – Old N1 Road, Rawsonville, DR1398 – Slanghoek Road, the MR298 – Nekkies Road to Rawsonville, TR3002 – R43 Worcester to Villiersdorp and the DR1400 – De Wet via Nuy Area. 

Danny Apollis, Traffic Deputy Chief, at the Breede Valley Municipality, said traffic teams remain visible at hotspots.

“We continue to encourage motorists to avoid unnecessary travel, strictly adhere to road closure signage, and follow official municipal communication platforms for real-time updates” he said.
