The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has warned against damaging winds and waves (at level 4) between Saldanha Bay and Plettenberg Bay, on Saturday, the 10th May 2025 until Sunday.

As a result, SAWS said this may lead to difficulty in navigation at sea.

In addition, there may be possible damage to informal settlements.

Similar weather is expected between Plettenberg Bay and East London, at Level 2.

SAWS has raised concern about high-sided vehicles, against strong wind, also expected over the southern part of the Northern Cape, the central and the eastern part of the Western Cape, as well as the central and the northern part of the Eastern Cape.

Extreme high fire danger conditions are expected over Beaufort West and Hessequa areas in the Western Cape, as well as north-western part of the Eastern Cape.

SAWS said strong to gale force north-westerly winds are expected over Chris Hani and Joe Gqabi district municipalities in the Eastern Cape, on Sunday.

The City of Cape Town has urged residents to secure objects on their properties that could be carried by the wind, like outside furniture, and to be mindful of potential damage to garage doors, sliding doors and windows.

The City also said those travelling should be on the lookout for obstructions on the roadway, like fallen trees or other debris.
