TripAdvisor, an App for travellers, cautioned motorists of a raging wildfire across Sabi Sand, which started on Saturday th 23rd August 2025.
“We have winds today of 26km/h, making it near impossible to contain the already huge fires. All firefighting teams are mobilized and in action. Forecast for small amount of rain tomorrow” said a resident on the App.
A fire danger rating index, used by Forestry South Africa shows a high likelihood of a fire in the Karoo (47), Eswatini (56), Central Free State (49), Northwestern Fre State (47), Gauteng (51), KZN Berg South (55) and the KZN interior (56), Limpopo’s Soutspansbrg (53) and Mpumalanga’s Escarment (58).
