South Africa has about 559 alien species, of which 383 plant species are in four different categories.

There are many significant efforts countrywide to free indigenous plants from threatening invader species, and lessening wild fires.

The Kleinmond Nature Reserve team, has reported strides made this year.

The Reserve praised its two teams, for saving fynbos against the threat of invasive alien species.
The first team funded by WWF, cleared some 404 hectares on the west bank of the Palmiet estuary and 19 hectares on the east bank, in December. In January, they sawed and treated invaders in 11.5 hectares above Proteadorp in just three days.

Large areas invaded by Port Jackson, were cleared against the mountain at Hanneshoek above the golf course (5.53 hectares) and 1.35 hectares at the golf course entrance.

Popular invasive alien species in that area, include Port Jackson, Australian myrtle, rooikrans, hakea, and pine trees.

The second team, funded by the Department of Agriculture, cleared 11 hectares, on the De Draai Farm 563, next to the R44 between Arabella Country Estate and Rooisand Nature Reserve.

Please share your work as well with the world.
