Eskom summer plans are to keep loadshedding below stage 4, Calib Cassim, Acting Group CEO, said.
“… Although we still had to implement Stage 6 for 39 days out of a total of 153 days, due to higher than expected levels of unplanned outages, we were also able to suspend loadshedding during the day in June, limiting it only to the afternoon through the evening peak, until midnight.”

The power utility’s projections are based on previous Summer months.
According to Segomoco Scheppers, Group Executive for Transmission at Eskom, the Summer forecast for loadshedding amounts to between 14,500 MW and 17,500 MW.
The first projection, is of an estimated 116 days of loadshedding at stages less than stage 4.
The second, is of of losing 16, 000 MW, over 187 days, and implementing stages 5 and 6.

Eskom’s generation operational recovery plan has delivered, according to Bheki Nxumalo, Generation Group Executive at Eskom.
” There is stability at Medupi power Station, and improvements at Duvha, Majuba, Hendrina, and Tutuka.”
He also said Medupi and Lethabo received 85% energy availability factor from June and July.
Unit 1 at Koeberg will be returning to service as from 03rd November 2023.
