The Emfuleni Local Municipality and Rand Water are launching a water Utility, on Sunday, the 03rd November 2024.

Rand Water said in a statement, the Utility, will  enhance the provision of water and sanitation services within the Municipality.

“The utility will assume full responsibility for the implementation, management, and maintenance of water and sanitation service systems and will
seek to ensure sustainable basic service delivery to residents, businesses, and industries in the area.”

Makenosi Maroo, Spokesperson for Rand Water, said the establishment of the utility was initiated to respond to the growing demand for reliable and efficient water services that aligns with national priorities for water security.

“The utility will commit itself to ensuring the reliable delivery of water and sanitation services whilst addressing the pressing challenges that have affected communities in recent years.
It has been entrusted with the responsibility to implement sustainable solutions that will enhance access to clean water and effective sanitation systems, ultimately improving the quality of life for ordinary residents.”

Makhosonke Sangweni, Spokesperson of eMfuleni Local Municipality, said the new utility  symbolises a commitment to sustainable water and sanitation management, and at the same time, provides a solid foundation for future growth and development.

Included in its mandate, is the utility’s commitment to collaborate with all municipal and sectoral stakeholders, and fostering collaboration to achieve seamless service delivery and infrastructure development.
