Political leadership of the Chief Albert Luthuli Municipality met with the management of the Nkomati Mine on Wednesday, the 11th June.
Mbuso Magubane, the Mayor, said critical issues discussed centred around progress on the new water treatment plant, as an infrastructure project and also sustainable water management and environmental compliance.
Job creation and local procurement, were also discussed.
Magubane said “the completion of the water treatment works and to maintain the readiness state of processing plants, are significant milestones that will benefit not only the mine, but also our communities through jobs and business opportunities.”
The Municipality said on various of its social media platforms, the Nkomati Mine leadership reaffirmed their commitment to responsible mining practices, community development, and partnerships with local stakeholders.
