Police confiscated goods valued at an estimated R500K left along the Limpopo River, in Musina.
The police’s Operation Vala Umgodi National Intervention (Roving)Team, suspects the goods were abandoned by a syndicate.
Thembi Hadebe, the Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo, said on the morning of the 11th January 2025, at around 11:20, the team was conducting a routine patrol near Tshirundu village when they received a tipoff about approximately eight small boats loading goods.
“Upon noticing the police, the suspects quickly got into boats and fled back into Zimbabwe, abandoning most of the goods.”
The confiscated items are alcoholic beverages, energy drinks, baked goods, flour, and other consumer goods, in a fridge.
All seized items were registered at the Musina SAPS for further investigation and processing.
