Cumulus mediocris captured on the 31st December 2024 over Pretoria East.

There are four types of Cumulus clouds- cumulus humilis, mediocris, congestus, and fractus.

Although Cumulus mediocris generally bring very light rain, they can also develop into clouds that can produce severe storms (Cumulus congestus or Cumulonimbus).

The SA Weather Service (SAWS) has forecast a cloudy day with scattered and thundershowers in the Capital City of Tshwane /Pretoria, as well as Johannesburg, Vereeniging, Mbombela, Polokwane, Mahikeng, Vryburg, Bloemfontein, Kimberly and Upington.
