The carbon capture and storage facility at the Kelvin Power Plant in Kempton Park, was officially launched today.

Cosmos Tshiteme, Acting Chief Director of Hydrogen Energy, at the Department of
Science and Innovation said although this is a pilot project, it has the ability to emit at least 300 normal cubic meters per hour, or close to tens of kilograms of carbon emissions through the conversion.

The R30- million project, was funded by the Department of Science and Innovation (DSI), as part of their mandate to test and validate concepts based on research.
