There is reported looting at Mandela Section, Katlehong, near California.
As a result, members of the public are urged to avoid the area, and also remain vigilant.
Grootvlei
Three suspects, aged between 30 and 35, were arrested on the 28 June 2026 for intimidation and theft.
The suspects threatened a foreign national shop owner with violence before stealing items from his business.
Dr Zeph Mkhwanazi, the Acting Provincial Commissioner of SAPS in Mpumalanga, said police will act decisively against acts of intimidation, attacks on law enforcement officers, and criminal activities targeting businesses.
Verulam
A large crowd of people gathered opposite a tuckshop on Venus Road in the Mt Vernon, Riet River area of Verulam.
They are going door to door at the informal settlement.
Residents are advised to remain vigilant, avoid the area if possible, and follow the instructions of law enforcement officials.
